THANK YOU

This is the last newsletter of the school year and I would like to say a few thank yous:
sunshine

  • to my tremendous colleagues who ensure that the school runs smoothly and that your children flourish.
  • to our dedicated governors whose critical support keeps the school on track.
  • to the hard-working PTA committee who have organised and run so many events this year, maintaining our sense of community and raising much needed cash.
  • to you the parents whose support is vital to us and your children.
  • to all the children whose enthusiasm and cheerfulness make Parkside a great place to be.

Thank you all.

WELL DONE

Over the past few weeks school teams have taken part in three events.  I am very pleased with the high levels of commitment and effort put in by all the children involved.

  • Our electric goblin car with its team of year 6 children , took part in events at Ringmer and Goodwood.
  • Our year 6 children took part in the East Sussex Safety in Action event and scored the most points in the county for the ‘Police Issues’ section.
  • Our swimming team took part in the Heathfield Area Swimming Gala and did better than they have ever done before; they came second overall and our girls won the girls’ relay trophy.  Particluar thanks go to Freedom Leisure Crowborough who gave us the use of their pool for four training sessions.

THANK YOU PARENTS

My thanks go to the terrific band of volunteers who have recently spruced up the reception class outdoor play area and garden.  They have made such a huge difference.

Thank you for supporting our art exhibition.  Raising money was not the reason for holding the exhibition, but we are delighted that the sales generated £288 for the school.  This has gone directly to purchasing consumable art materials for the children’s use.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY

School closes at 3.20pm tomorrow and reopens to the children in years 1 to 6 at 8.55am on Thursday 2nd September. The children in the new reception class have different arrangements.

GOODBYE

Four of our staff team will be moving on to pastures new – Rachael Augier, Vanessa Berkley-Smith, Sara Hedley and Jo Marriott.  We will miss them all.

FINALLY …

I would like to say goodbye and thank you to our year 6 children who will be leaving Parkside tomorrow.  It has been a privilege to watch them developing and maturing over the years into the wonderful young people they have become.

Take care and have a lovely summer.
